Katrina’s dress will be a challenge, not only is the sporozoan going to wrap around the form it is also going to be about four times the size of anything I have embroidered so far.

My friend Matthew makes very subtle paintings that one might not think would translate into screen prints. Or let me rephrase they wouldn’t translate unless you were a super anally retentive artist like Matthew is. If you have ever done screen printing you know that in order to get prints that are subtle and lacking in “break marks” you cannot have the paper lift off the table when the screen is lifted between printings. Many ways of alleviating this problem can be used but the best way is with a vacuum table, which sucks the paper down to the table as one is printing. Professional vacuum tables usually are glass or plexi-glass topped with small holes drilled through it to allow the vacuum to function and can be well into the thousands of dollars. Check out Matthew’s site to build one for yourself for almost nothing.
